When you click on the Servers menu item on a new install of Proclaim! you will see a list of these servers. It's probably best if you create your own, though you can use these as a starting place if you like.

To create a new server, click on the NEW button. Give the server a name, such as Church MP3 Files. Then select a server type by clicking the SELECT button next to Server.

You will then see a menu of choices for server types. Most likely you will choose the legacy type if your files are on a different server than your website. You can play around with the localhost server as well if your files exist on your site's web server.

Once you click the legacy type, more fields become visible to fill out.  The most important is the Server URL Path field. The information from here on is pretty much the same for Local and YouTube type servers.

Here is where you put the path a browser would take to get to your media files WITHOUT the protocol such as http: or https: - you set that in the Protocol field. Notice that you can Use Global or set a value. The global settings are found under the Administration tab of Proclaim!. So your path might be www.christianwebministries.org/MediaFiles/ for instance. Keep track of this because in individual media file records you will complete the path to the file.

Next click Media Settings.

There are a number of parameters you can set here, which will be used every time you select this server. Many of these settings can also be done through the Administration tab but would apply to all servers where Use Global is set. Look at the various options for what player you want to use (we recommend the internal player) and whether you want a popup or inline (use popup if you are unsure).

If you use All Videos or Jplayer you can embed code here but you probably don't need to do this unless you know what you're doing.

The Media Settings are discussed in another article - this is the visual representation of your media file on the page. You can set and change these globally under the Administration tab. Experiment with images, buttons, colors, etc - depending on the style of your site design.

Next, let's set up a teacher.
