What's new in Proclaim 10:
- A large security pass across the component. Backup and restore now only touch Proclaim's own tables; the image cleanup and migration tools stay inside Proclaim's own image folders; text entered on a message or teacher can no longer be carried into the structured-data block on the public page as markup; the Gemini API key travels as a header instead of in the request URL, where it was written to any log that records addresses; and the media and CSV-import endpoints check permissions before acting. Multi-campus location filtering also no longer falls open — when it could not work out a user's campuses it previously allowed everything through instead of nothing.
- Admin list columns sort again. Clicking a column header in any Proclaim list submitted a name the list did not recognise, so nothing happened at all. This is the fix most people will notice first.
- Episode numbers are unique within a series, with tools to manage them. Numbers can be filled in automatically for a series, duplicates are detected as you save, and a new audit report lists every gap and collision across all series. Please note there is a one-time data change: where two messages already share a number, the update keeps it on the earliest message and clears it on the others, returning them to the unnumbered state. Those messages are listed on the episode audit screen so you can renumber them deliberately — the alternative was letting the database invent an order that a number-sorted podcast feed would then follow.
- Analytics collects less. Only the scheme, host and path of a referring address are kept — the query string is written by the referring site and routinely carries search terms, session tokens and newsletter recipient identifiers — and addresses already stored are trimmed during the update. Opt-out is honoured on every write, detected from a Sec-GPC header, a DNT header, or a cookie your consent extension sets; outbound link clicks were being recorded outside that check and no longer are. The session identifier is now a keyed value that rotates daily, so one visitor cannot be traced across days, and existing history is re-keyed during the update without changing any session counts.
- Fewer ways for one bad record to break a page. A single unreadable thumbnail no longer takes down the public podcast list, corrupt saved settings no longer produce a fatal error, applying a media display setting in a batch now applies the whole configuration rather than leaving a combination no option describes, and outbound requests to YouTube, Bible providers and AI services time out instead of hanging the request.
- Scripture and Getting Started corrections. The built-in Genesis verse counts were wrong from chapter 18 onward — chapter 24 was recorded as having 13 verses rather than 67 — which made the hints shown while typing a reference misleading for most of the book. The Getting Started checklist now reads the settings it is checking, so completed steps stay ticked, and its podcast step, which could never appear at all, now does.
- After updating, clear your page cache if you use a third-party optimizer. Proclaim clears Joomla's own caches, and names any it cannot clear so you can clear them by hand. A cached page can otherwise still reference the combined script files this update replaced, which stops features such as the Bible version switcher from loading.
